I need help with a problem. Iwas trying to solve it, but I'm confused! It had to deal with composition of functions. You have to find f(x) and g(x):

. . .f(x) + g(x)
. . .f(x) - g(x)
. . .f(x) * g(x)
. . .f(x) / g(x)

The problem is:

. . .f(x)3/x-7
. . .g(x)x^2+5x

I solved it and came out with x^2 + 7x - 11/x - 7, but this isn't the right answer. The rest of answer were wrong too. Please help! Thank you.

Sorry to say, I do not think anyone can read you post.
Please review what you posted,
Have you left out some equal signs?
What are the exact instructions?
Please copy the question exactly as written if possible.

To expand on the earlier reply: You say that you need to compose functions, but then you list simple operations (adding, subtracting, etc) on functions. Are you supposed to be composing "f(x) + g(x)" with something? If so, what? And what are f(x) and g(x) for this part?

You then say that "the problem is" two listed functions. Is this a different problem from whatever functions you're composing in the first part of your post?

You mention "solving", but I'm not seeing any equations to "solve"...? Are you solving for y in terms of x? (One usually solves for a numerical value, but your solution contains a variable, is why I ask.)

Thank you.

Eliz.
