Hello -

Let K(x) be a composite function defined as K(x) = F(G(x)). Find K ' (3) if and then there is a chart:

X F(x) F'(x) G(x) G'(x)
1 2 .5 -3 5
2 3 1 0 4
3 4 2 2 3
4 6 4 3 .5

I have no idea how to figure this problem out. Please show me the work to get to the answer so that I can understand each step.

Thank you!!

K(x) = F[G(x)]

K ' (x) = F ' [G(x)]G ' (x), chain rule

Ergo, K ' (3) = F ' [G(3)]G ' (3)

Now just plug in the answers you already have and you're done.

What is G(3), G ' (3), and then F ' [G(3)]?
