You approached this problem correctly. But, you made a small mistake in multiplying (7 - i)(7 - i).

It should be 49 - 7i - 7i + i<SUP>2</SUP>, or
49 - 14i - 1, or
48 - 14i

Put this over your (correct) denominator of 50:
48/50 - (14/50)i
reduce the fractions, and you should end up with the specified answer.

Reduce your fraction by dividing numerator and denominator by 2.

solution is 24/25 - 7/25(i)
