Am I on the right track with this problem.

Find the center and the radius of the circle.
x^2+y^2+8x-4y-34=0
(x^2+8x+16)+(y^2-4y+4)-54=0
(x+4)^2+(y=2)^2=54
h=-4
k=2
Center (-4,2)
Radius is 9 square root of 6

Almost. Radius is \(\displaystyle 3\sqrt{6}\). You just forgot to square root the 9. Good show. :D
