Did I do this correctly? It doesn't seem correct..
solve the equation by completing the square:
5s^2 - 10s = 23
This is what I did:
5s^2 - 10s - 23/5 = 0
s^2 - 2s - 23/5 = 0
s^2 - 2s = 23/5
s^2 - 2s + 1 = 23/5 +1
(s-1)^2 = 28/5
s-1 = square root of 28/5
s=1 plus/minus square root of 28/5
s=3.4 or s=1.4
Did I solve it correctly? Is there an easier way?
