I had a similar problem like this and didn't know where to begin besides writing them out, then I quickly realized I couldn't do that and remain sane. So, I searched and searched and found that it's simply 2ⁿ. For example, Let A be a set which has 4 numbers. How many subsets does A have? 2⁴= 16
I believe this answer takes into account all subsets including A and the empty set.
