You should have studied the relationship of the lengths of two intersecting chords in a circle.

When two chords intersect each other inside a circle, the products of their segments are equal.

\(\displaystyle CE \cdot ED= AE \cdot EB\)

Thus, \(\displaystyle x(x-4)=3 \cdot 4\)
