x(2power) - 7x + (-5x2power)+5x ......my answer came out to -6x but the answer book says its-4x2-2x (x2 is the power of 2, i just dont know how to write it right over here)

on screen "power" is indicated by "^" [shift][6]

x^2 - 7x + (-5x^2) + 5x

= x^2 - 5x^2 - 7x + 5x

= Continue.....

Since there is no equation here (nothing with an "equals" sign in it), there is nothing to "solve". Are you sure that this is what the instructions told you to do...?

I will guess that the expression is something along the lines of the following:

. . . . .x^2 - 7x + (-5x^2) + 5x

...and that you are really supposed to "simplify". Since there are two types of terms here (x-squared's, and plain x's), you should end up, after combining the "like" terms, with two terms (being the sum of the x-squared's and the sum of the plain x's).

It would help if you showed your steps. Thank you! :D

I will guess that this is a different exercise. What were its instructions? Are you perhaps supposed to "simplify"...?

x^4 - 6x - 5x + 5x
Since six is not equal to seven, then this must logically be yet-another exercise. What were its instructions? How far have you gotten on this exercise? Where are you stuck?

Since "x^4" is not "nothing", then this expression cannot be related to the previous one. Is this a fourth exercise? What were its instructions? How far have you gotton on this one?

Is this perhaps your answer to your fourth posted exercise...?

Please reply with the full and exact texts of the various exercises, the complete instructions for each, and a clear listing of your work and reasoning so far. Thank you! :D

x^4 - 6x - 5x + 5x >>>Where did x^4 come from? How did -5x^2 become -5x
-11x +5x <<<< This is totally wrong - I don't even know where I should begin!!
-6x

Look at the steps I showed you in the previous post - try to follow those.

There are some worked out examples with explanation - you need to understand those.
