Can this be reduced?

It's (rad6)/4 - 1.

Assuming that THIS is what you mean:

[sqrt(6) / 4] - 1

You could write 1 as 4/4:

[sqrt(6) / 4 ] - (4/4)

and combine the two fractions by subtracting the numerators, and putting the result over the common denominator:

[sqrt(6) - 4] / 4


SOME might consider that a single fraction is "simpler" than the originally posted expression. I'm not convinced that it is, but for those who feel that way, this would be a simpler expression than what you started with.
