2x(sq)-6x=8
-2x(sq) -2x(sq)
-6x=8-2x(sq)

x=-8/6-2x(sq)/-6

That's what I have so far, but then, I'm stuck.

Your method towards the solution is incorrect.

You need to use "quadratic solution".
