Hi, I have the positions of three microphones and can measure the phase differences of the incoming signals. Can I unambiguously calculate the position of a sound event from these values? How? (All twodimensional)

Many thanks

Can you please give a mathematical description of the phase difference of two sound waves?

Sorry, I can not, but I can try to formulate the problem geometrically: The coordinates of points a, b, and c are known, point x is wanted. (All 2D). Also known are: (distance a to x) minus (distance b to x) and: (distance b to x) - (distance c to x). Is it possible to calculate the position of the point x uniquely? How?

Thanks again

the position to what accuracy? ;)

what frequencies are your passive sonar seeing?
