I did this problem and I got 4,900 and 44,100 but I think I am just making up numbers or something. This is confusing. Can anyone suggest something or a formula to help.

The number of dislocated electric impulses per cubic inch in a transformer increases when lightning strikes by D = 4900(3)^x, where x is the time in milliseconds of the lightning strike. Find the number of dislocated impulses at x = 0 and x = 2.

Thanks guys. Mikey!

If the question were
increases when lightning strikes to D = 4900(3)^x
your answers would be correct.
When it says
increases when lightning strikes by D = 4900(3)^x
they should tell you what it is increasing from. Since they don't, I would say you did it correctly.

The alternative is that the equation should read
dD/dx=4900(3)^x which is another question.
