As a first-time homeowner, there are going to many decisions that you need to make, such as whom to hire for the upkeep of your lawn. You have just received advertisements from 2 companies in your area: Greener Lawns and Lawns for Less. Greener Lawns charges an initial fee of $200, plus $50 per hour for labor costs. Lawns for Less charges an initial fee of $300, plus $25 per hour for labor costs.

If h represents the number of labor hours and C represents the cost, write the total cost equation for Greener Lawns.
If h represents the number of labor hours and C represents the cost, write the total cost equation for Lawns for Less.
Solve the system of equations for the total cost of lawn care using the desired technique: substitution, elimination, or graphing.
Document how you came to these conclusions for accuracy.

As a first-time poster, perhaps you missed the usage instructions.

Please show some work.

These are linear equations. You studied lines for a reason. Now is the time to prove you were paying attentino in class last year.

I graduated school 11 years ago I do not rember how to do this.I need help The questions are there I need help with the formula I mean i do not even know where to begin.

This suggests a need to know why you are doing this. Required for work? Recreation?

Try to remember, and this is intended to be encouragement, that whoever did this first probably wasn't any smarter than you. They just thought about it longer.

In order to get through the next little while, you will need to be familair with linear equations in all their forms. Youwill need an Algebra I Text Book.

Slope-intercept

y = mx+b

Point-Slope

(a,b)
(y-b) = m(x-a)

Two-Point

(a,b), (c,d)
m = (d-b)/(c-a)
The repeat the Point-Slope form using either point.

These are the most common. You will also mean Standard Form, Normal Form, and maybe Intercept Form (my personal favorite)

tkhunny has given excellent advice.

Conceptually, algebra is just using letters to stand for numbers that you do not know yet. Technically, it represents techniques for working with numbers that you do not know yet.

Let's take your FIRST question.
What is the cost of labor for Greener Lawns?
The number of labor hours is h (it's a number you do not yet know).
If I told you the cost of labor is $50 and a job will take 2 hours, what will be the labor cost for that job?
So what is the labor cost of h hours?
But labor cost is not the only cost is it?
So what is total cost?
