Big Magic Squares

Here's a method I cooked up for making big magic squares.

I'm sure it's not new. It reminds me a little bit of the Kronecker product of two matrices (which is complex, but not as complex as it sounds...)

Wonder why you didn't go from a 3by3 to a 9by9 instead...
less stuff to look at, plus (probably) easier to follow by students.

I thought of that, but then I wondered if people would get the two 3x3's mixed up in the middle of the process and mess things up....

Such a pity there's no 2x2 magic square!
