I need help with this Math problem:

Mrs. Graff bought 15 bottles of shampoo on sale at a local store. Each bottle contained 16 oz. If each oz. cost $.06, what was the total cost of the shampoo?

Math was not my forte in school at all.

Your help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Thanks

Don't make it complicated. This is a simple problem. Start by asking yourself how much one bottle would cost. If it's $.06 per ounce, and 16 oz per bottle, that is just

($.06)(16) = $.96 per bottle

Multiply this answer by the number of bottles and you have the total cost.

We use multiplication, to determine the total cost.

If each ounce costs six cents, then 16 ounces will cost 16 times $0.06 .

If this happens five times, then we need to multiply by 5, too.

\(\displaystyle 5 \;\times\; 16 \;\times\; 0.06 \;=\; ?\)

I am new to this forum but I have been part of forums before. So I posted on the topic that was closest to my situation.

I searched and did not find a place to put a New Post. Anyway, I appreciate the answers that the 2 people gave.
The Teacher's Edition gave another answer though of $14.40. I was trying to see how they came up with that answer.

You buy 15 bottles, right?

Each bottle contains 16 oz, right?

15 bottles at 16 oz per bottle means you buy 15*16 ounces.

That's 240 ounces.

Now..the cost per ounce, as stated in the problem, is $ 0.06.

To find the total cost for the 15 bottles, multiply the number of ounces by the cost per ounce:

240 ounces * $0.06 /ounce

That should agree with the answer in "the book."

Thank you for your answer but again, I searched and looked and I did not see a place for me to post a NEW TOPIC.
So continuing to tell me that isn't helping unless you can show me where to put the New Posts.

Thank you

Everything that you've been told by people here leads to $14.40 .

Clearly, the issue is at your end, and nobody here can tell you what you're doing wrong, unless you start showing your work.

I already told you that the [NEWTOPIC] button appears on the boards' index pages.

Now I will show you, using the screenshot below (double-click image, to expand).

Your red arrow could be a bit longer, like some 1/5 inch...

How 'bout I slide it down, instead of making it longer. Would you like the tip to actually touch the button image, or would you prefer a slight gap?

And, would you like fries with that?

:p
