During the 162-game baseball season, the outfielder Felipe saved an average of $32 per game. He kept the money in a sock in his locker.

a) At the end of the season he took his money to the bank. How much had he saved by the end of the season?

b) HE plans to leave all the money in his savings account until the end of next season. At a simple interest rate of 4.68% per year, how much will he have at the end of next season?

Units lecture #1.
a) You can treat units like fractions.
You want D dollars.
You have N games
You have M dollars/game
As a fraction can you see that
dollars
-------- * games = dollars
games
or
M*N=D
The games cancel out leaving dollars
You can always treat units that way.
How many inches in a mile?
12 inches / foot
5280 feet / mile
Code:
inches foots inches
------ * ------- = ------
 foot mile mile
Remembering that will help you with anything with units

b) I = P*R*T
I is the amount of interest.
P is the amount invested
R is the annual interest rate
T is the number of years
Figure the I then add P for the amount he will have.
