I have a word problem. Can you please tell me how to set this up and do the problem.

At a 30% off sale, the sale price of an item is $37.46. What was the original price of the item?

Thank you...

Rule #1 -- Name Stuff.

P = Original Price of Item

After that, just think your way through it.

P * 0.30 = Discount

P - (P * 0.30) = Sale Price = P(1 - 0.3) = P*0.7 = 37.46

Can you finish?

Thank you, I have been working on these and think I got most of them, I came up with the original price of the item as $53.51.

70/100=37.46/x
70x=3746
x=53.51

Thank you so much, I have been working on these for several day and I think they just clicked in my head...

Thanks:) :) :)
