i need help with how to do this problem
y=3/x+2
You are new. Please read "Read Before Posting."

And what are you supposed to do with that equation? You understand that we cannot see what is on your problem sheet or in your book: you have to give us the complete problem; otherwise we are guessing.

Have you done any work? If so, please show us what you have done so we can identify where you are stuck.

If you have not done any work, tell us what ideas you have had about ways to proceed. Let's start by asking: what is an asymptote?

aliciaanna,

not only should you work with/answer all of those important points of post #2, but you
also have to type your expression correctly.

For instance, if you meant the equivalent of \(\displaystyle \ y \ = \ \dfrac{3}{x + 2}, \) then you have

to use grouping symbols in the denominator for horizontal style that you used.

If you meant it to be as I showed, then you would type something such as

y = 3/(x + 2).
