Let a1, a2,...,an..be and arithmetic sequence. Find the indicated quantities

a1=3, a20=117, d=?, a101=?

I dont even know where to begin on this.

Well, start by Googling "arithmetic sequence" and then see how far you can get.
Come back if you have questions...we're not here to teach; that's done in classrooms!

Why are you confused ?

Your statement about not knowing where to begin is too vague, to be a request for help.

I mean, is it the notation that confuses you ? Are there words in the exercise that you do not understand ?

Do you misunderstand the concept of a sequence ?

If you can ask a specific question, I might be able to answer it.

Cheers 8-)

Here's a suggestion on where to begin:

FIND the formula for the "nth" term of an arithmetic sequence.

It is NOT a mystery.

It is in every math book I've taught out of that deals with arithmetic sequences.

Please show us what you have found for that formula.

Then, we can show you how to answer your questions by using the formula AND the information you are given in the problem.
