This is an extra credit problem from my Calc class, for which we are allowed help from any source, which is why I thought I'd ask here.
The population density (in people per square mile) for a coastal town on an island can be modeled by
f(x,y)= (5000xe^y) / (1+2x^2)
where x and y are measured in miles. What is the population inside the rectangular area defined by the vertices (0,0), (0,4), (0,-2), and (4,-2). Provide 3-d picture of the region.
Just wondering if anyone wanted to take a shot at the integral or anything. I thought it was an interesting problem.
