(1) -12b < 0

Ans: b is greater than or equal to 1

(2) A supermarket manager wants to price a box of cereal. During a sale in which each box is marked off $1.50, the manager wants 5 boxes to sell for less than 3 boxes did before the sale. Write and solve an inequality to find the price the supermarket should charge for a box of cereal.

Ans: 5(x - 1.50) < 3x
x > 3.75

(3) (5 + r) - (6 - r) = 13

Ans: r = 7

(1) Zero divided by a non-zero number is zero. 0/-12 = 0.

(2) The set-up is correct but you need to be careful with the inequality sign. It should be x < 3.75, can you see why? If not, show your steps.

(3) Substitute r=7 into the left-hand side to see if it equals the right-hand side, 13.

Ah, yeah. I see it. Thank you sooo much. You have no idea how much of a help you have been. XD

Erm, if I may, one more question???

How would I go about solving this one...it's too obscure...

The sum of the measures of the angles of a convex polygon is 1980*. How many sides does the polygon have?

So far, I have x= 1980, but it musn't be right because there's no way to solve it now... -_-

Work your way up.
A triangle sums to 180°
A rectangle sums to 360°
A pentagon sums to 540°
Do you see a pattern based on the number of sides?

I'm willing to assume that means "Yes" but I would sleep better if you said "And the answer is..."

It's a good thing I asked. It isn't quite that simple. Use the method that gave you 22 on the three test cases. It won't do. The formula is a little more complicated than n*90.

A triangle has 3 sides and 180°
A rectangle has 4 sides and 360°
A pentagon has 5 sides and 540°
An equation for the number of degrees in an n-gon has to work for those three before you can apply it to figure the number of sides for 1980°

I'm an idiot. Yep. It's unanimous. Label me a total Math Dummy.

Okay, let me try that again.

Thank you again for the insight.

By George, I think she's got it :!: 180(n-2)
