A rectangle is to be drawn with perimeter 64 cm. If the length is to be 14 cm more than the width, determine the area of the rectangle.

I got an answer of 252 cm^2 but the answer key says 207 cm^2, how would you get that? If you want me to show what i did for my work, i can.

If the length was not 14 cm more than the width

You would have a square with a side length of

(64 - 28)/4 = 36/4 = 9 cm

But the length is 14 cm more than the width so you have

width = 9 cm

and length = 23 cm

A = length * width

Or

Let the width be w, then

2w + 2(w + 14) = 64

w + w + 14 = 32

Solve for the the width, w, then add 14 to find the length.
