I have a problem I cannot see how to solve.

Sum of all elements = 522
Common difference is 1
last element has a value of 32

Q1 How many elements are there in total.
Q2 What is the value of the first element.

Any help would be appreciated.

Assume:

First element = a

no of element = N

What is the expression for last element?

What is the expression for sum of the elements?

I need to correct myself d= -1

The expression for the last element would a(n)?

and to sum all the elements you would do n(a(1) + a(n))/2? I think.

That would be strictly correct for d = 1

The expression for last element (n th element) = a(1) + (n-1) * d

for d= -1

a(n) = a(1) - n + 1
