The top and bottom ends of a windshield wiper blade are 34 and 14 inches from the pivot point, respectively. While in operation the wiper sweeps through 135 degrees . Find the area swept by the blade.

Please show all work.

I am sooooo stumped with this problem.

P.S. The answer is 360(pie)(don't know the symbol on computer!)
It was in the back of the book, but I have to show my work.

The area for a circular sector(the area swept out by the wiper blade) is

given by \(\displaystyle \frac{1}{2}r^{2}{\theta}\).

Convert 135 to radians by multiplying it by \(\displaystyle \frac{{\pi}}{180}\)

Use the formula for r=34 and r=21, then subtract them.

BTW, what kind of pie?. Cherry?. Apple?.
