Has anyone tried Microsoft Math 4.0? Someone mentioned it on Google Plus earlier today, and I found this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyYacuhyPXw - which has me drooling! Also best of all it's free... here's the URL to download it -- http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=15702 .

My College Algebra course starts in a couple of weeks, and though I have a TI-83 Plus I can definitely see myself using this as another tool. I thought I'd see if anyone has any experience with it though.

Take care ,
Sam

Hi Sam.

You are a motivated student, so this program will probably be an asset for you. At the very least, you can use it to confirm your own work.

MicrosoftMath is known as a CAS [computer algebra-system]. CAS software has been around for decades; I use a program called Maple.

CAS software is a tool; not a substitute for thinking.

I would like viewers to know that Microsoft's statements regarding some claimed benefits from using MicrosoftMath cannot be taken at face value.
