Since this is the misc section I was just curious if anyone knew of any mathematicians who were self taught but didn't necessarily pick up math at a very young age like many famous mathematicians?

Good Question.....I know of 3

Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, and Leonardo Pisano Bigollo are the mathematicians that come to my mind. I'm quite sure they were smart in math early on, but I'm not sure what the ages were.

Albert Einstein was not a mathematician, he was a physicist. Isaac Newton was before the distinction between physicists and mathematicians was so sharp. But I don't know why you say they were "self taught". Albert Einstein was educated at the college at Aarau, Switzerland and the Federal Polytechnic School in Zurich, Switzerland where he got his Ph.D. in 1905. Newton was educated at Cambridge University, Trinity College. Leonardo Pisano Bigollo was educated at a school (not technically a "college" or "university"- this was before the start of what we would call "colleges" and "universities") in Cairo, Egypt.
