‘Find the points of intersection of the following pairs of straight lines’
Y = 3X + 8 , Y = -2X – 7
3X + 8 = -2X – 7
5X + 8 = -7
5X = -15
X = -5
Y = 3X + 8
Y = 3(-5) + 8
Y = -15 + 8
Y = -7
Therefore, the point of intersection is (-5 , -7)
However- answer book says (-3 , -1).
If anybody could tell me where I have gone wrong or if the book is wrong, it would be much appreciated
