If I have group A with a mean of 4.64 and group B with 4.03 and I need to determine if A has a signficantly longer duration of pain relief than B, would my hypotheses be Ho: u>4.03 and H1<4.03 ? And would I then use the formula for Z?

You have not provided sufficient information.

It looks like you are headed the right direction. Show your results and we'll be happy to comment on them. Don't forget to include information about the sampel size of the two groups.

Sample size is 55 for group A and 58 for group B. S.D for group A is 1.2, for group B it is 1.8. I have gotten 2.09 for Z. I need to find the rejection region with a .10 significance level and then find the P value. Would my P value be P(Z>2.09)=.0183?
