Hello there!
I'm studying Parametric plots, and was wondering if there was software out there that E-A-S-I-L-Y could animate the precession of a parametric function given a time domain. I would greatly appreciate any help you could provide on this issue. I am trying to use mathematica, but I'm beginning to realize that such a seemingly simple operation requires more knowledge about computer science than I have at the moment. Is there any other software, e.g. "E-Z plot" (I made that up), that can do the trick for me? Again, I want to watch the animation of a parametric function. For ex, given the parabola f(x)=x^2, I'd like to watch the animation for the parametric function r(t)=[t,t^2] over the time domain [0, 2 Pi]. Thanks again!

I don't know if the following would "animate" things like you're looking for, but the k-slider feature might do what you're needing.

. . . . .Gus and Gertie's Graphin' Gadget

They've got a free-trial download, so you can "take it for a test drive" and see if it will work for you.

I know that I sure would have liked to have had this software when I was doing parametric stuff in calculus!

I don't know if you have access, but Maple does just what you want...in 2-D or 3-D.

I can't demonstrate the animation, but here's a 3-D graph of what you mentioned:

actually, our class will be using maple .. so I hope I can find my answer there. Thanks for your help everyone!
