Algebraic Expression: don't know how to do 5x + x + 10w-w

I do not understand how to do 5x + x + 10w-w i don't know if adding the two x's would be x2 and sense there is a number infront of the first X i dont think it can be x2. so how would i figure out how to work this problem? i think i have the W part down considering i take away the W.

7apples + 4apples = 11apples, right?

So 7x + 4x = 11x : kapish?
