Hi. need help with this question:

7x 4
____ - ______
x^2-9x + 14 x-7

Also, if some bright person wouldn't mind answering this too

a^2-9 / 3-a the slash stands for division I think that's the symbol?

a^2-9 / 3-a the slash stands for division I think that's the symbol?
_____ ____
2a+6 a

in future, format the fractions as follows ...

7x/(x^2 - 9x + 14) - 4/(x - 7) =
factor the denominator of the first fraction ...
7x/[(x - 2)(x - 7)] - 4/(x - 7) =
common denominator is (x - 2)(x - 7) ...
7x/[(x - 2)(x - 7)] - 4(x - 2)/[(x - 2)(x - 7)] =
combine the numerators over the common denominator ...
[7x - 4(x - 2)]/[(x - 2)(x - 7)] =
distribute the -4 ...
(7x - 4x + 8)/[(x - 2)(x - 7)] =
combine like terms ...
(3x + 8)/[(x - 2)(x - 7)]
that's as far as one can go ... you're done.

second problem, one fraction divided by another ...

[(a^2 - 9)/(2a + 6)]/[(3-a)/a] =
division of fractions, flip the divisor and change to a multiplication problem ...
[(a^2 - 9)/(2a + 6)]*[a/(3 - a)] =
factor the numerator and denominator of the first fraction ...
[(a + 3)(a - 3)/{2(a + 3)}]*[a/(3 - a)] =
multiply fractions straight across ...
[(a + 3)(a - 3)a]/[2(a + 3)(3 - a)] =
cancel the common factors in the numerator and denominator, also note that
(a - 3) = -(3 - a) ... you finally get the fraction -a/2
