Please I am having trouble with an Alegbra story problem,
Hat sizes are determined by measuring the circumference of one's head in either inches or centimeters. use ratio and proportion to complete the following table.

Hat size Head Circumference Head Circumference
(to nearest 1/5 in) (to nearest centimeter)

7 1/4 22 4/5 58

7 1/8 ____ _____

I am so lost, I think it should be 7 1/2 x 71/8(60) I am totally lost after this step.
------ --------
7 1/2 7 1/2
can you help me????? Debbie

\(\displaystyle \frac{7+(1/8)}{7+(1/4)} = \frac{head\;inches}{22+(4/5)}\)

\(\displaystyle \frac{7+(1/8)}{7+(1/4)} = \frac{head\;cm}{58}\)

so how do I go about solving this equation??

You need these skills,

1) Convert silly mixed fractions to useful improper fractions.
2) Divide fractions (reciprocal and multiply?)
3) Solve simple equations by multiplication.

Have you practiced these skills?

Let's see what you get.
