Use the discriminant to determine whether the quadratic expression 3x^2+5x-1 can be factored. If not prime, factor it.

Discriminant is a=3,b=5 and c=-1
b^2-4ac
5^2-4(3)(1)
=37.
Cannot be factored.

You lost your c=-1, but managed the right value.

"Prime"?? How about "Not the Perfect Square of an Integer"?
