Amy paid $92.32 for a pair of running shoes during a 30% off sale. What was the regular price? What I came up was 27.70 more or $120.02. Is this correct? Please advise. Thank you.

\(\displaystyle Amy \ paid \ \$92.32 \ for \ a \ pair \ of \ running \ shoes \ at \ a \ 30\% \ off \ sale.\)

\(\displaystyle Hence, \ she \ only \ paid \ 70\% \ of \ the \ original \ price.\)

\(\displaystyle Let \ x \ = \ the \ original \ price, \ then \ 70\% \ of \ x \ = \ \$92.32.\)

\(\displaystyle .7x \ = \ 92.32 \ \implies \ x \ = \ 131.89\)

\(\displaystyle Check: \ 30\% \ of \ \$131.89 \ = \ \$39.57 \ and \ \$131.89-\$39.57 \ = \ \$92.32.\)

I see where I went wrong on solving the problem. Thank you for clarifying it for me. I appreciate your help and patience.
