Would the LCD be 8 or 4 for this? Im thinking 8

7/8X + 1/4 = 3/4X

I figured I need to use LCD to help clear the fractions? If Im wrong, could someone please help me set the problem up. thanks

7/8X + 1/4 = 3/4X

I used 8 as LCD

7X + 2 = 6X

7X-2-7X= 6X-7X

I got stuck there...

Someone can help me out? thanks

7x + 2 = 6x is correct: good work!
WHY are you changing the +2 to -2 ?

Your next step should be: 7x + 2 - 2 = 6x - 2 ; so 7x = 6x - 2

Finish it.

If the -2 is a typographical error, then of course you are at

7X - 7X + 2 = 6X - 7X

So, the next step is to simplify the expressions on each side of the equal sign.

6X and 7X are like terms on the righthand side, so you can do this subtraction.

On the lefthand side, I would think you could simplify that without prompting.

After simplifying both sides of this equation, you end up with an x-term on one side and a constant on the other. Solve for X by dividing both sides of the equation by the coefficient of X.

Thank you for showing your work; let us know if you need more help.

Cheers,

~ Mark :)
