Hello,

Wondering if it is possible to get the "Input" value by itself?

Input / (Input + Constant A) = Constant B

When I try to get "Input" to one side, I can't seem to finish it off. This is as far as I've gotten. Essentially, I'm trying to get the formula for "Input"

Input - Input (Constant B) = (Constant A) x (Constant B)

Please let me know if you can help. Thanks in advance.

Best,
Mako

Have you considered the Distributive Property of Multiplication over Addition? A*B + A*C = A*(B+C)

In other words, you can factor out Input from the left-hand side, and then solve for it.

This kind of equation gives many students trouble when they first see it; but it is really the same thing you do to solve an equation like 3x + 5x = 48: combine like terms. It just looks different when there are several variables.

Very much in agreement, but thinking to add emphasis on the names of things. It might be easier to see "x" in there twice, all ready to be factored, than it is so sift through "Input" or the very unwieldy "Constant A".

Solved

Thanks all for your help. (Someone commented on another forum with the answer detail)

Sorry if my message was confusing. And yes, it was basic factoring that I had forgotten how to do. ;)
