i'm not sure how to work this problem out.The problem says:

What is the area of a parallelogram if the base is (x+2) and the height is (2x+3)?
i got 2x^2+7x+6 using the F.O.I.L. method, is that right or is it 2x^2+6?

i'm not sure about this one either:

Find the area of a rectangle with a width of 2x^2 y^3 and a length of 5x^4 y^3.

do i use F.O.I.L.? :?: :?: :?:

The first answer is correct.

There is nothing to FOIL in the second. It is just a multiplication of powers.

As Gene told you, that's a multiplication: 2x^2 y^3 times 5x^4 y^3

REMEMBER that n^a times n^b = n^(a+b)

Doing yours step by step:
2 times 5 = 10
x^2 times x^4 = x^6
y^3 times y^3 = y^6
so answer is: 10 x^6 y^6 : capish?
