algebra help??

can someone show me how to solve problems like this?

3(2x+6)-3

1. What do you mean by "solve"? There isn't anything to solve.

2. Your term can be re-written in two different ways:

a) Expand the bracket an collect like terms.

b) Factor out 3 and collect like terms in the bracket.

can someone show me how to solve problems like this?

3(2x+6)-3

Here is how you can "solve" it:

3(2x+6)3=\displaystyle 3(2x+6)-3=

=6x+183=\displaystyle =6x+18-3=

=6x+15\displaystyle =6x+15

(Note >> 3(2x+6)\displaystyle 3(2x+6) << use the distributive law to get rid of the brackets (distributive law: >> a(b+c)=ab+ac\displaystyle a(b+c)=ab+ac << ) >> 3(2x+6)=3(2x)+3(6)=6x+18\displaystyle 3(2x+6)=3(2x)+3(6)=6x+18 <<
(Now we have >> 6x+183\displaystyle 6x+18-3 <<. Combine like terms. Terms 18 and -3 are like terms. >>18+(3)=183=15\displaystyle 18 + (-3)=18-3=15
