I currently failed my Algebra 2 class and am now taking it online. Im stuck in a chapter, it asks so many questions exactly like the one ive listed, could someone do this one for me so i may have a model to look at while doing the rest??

Problem:

Find the equation of the perpendicular line to each of the following that passes through the point indicated.

y = -1 passing through the point (1, 6)

"Find the equation of the perpendicular line to each of the following that passes through the point indicated.

y = -1 passing through the point (1, 6)"

Notice that the equation given (y = -1) is a horizontal line. Perpendicular to it would be a vertical line.
The equation of a vertical line is in the form x = a, where a is the x-intercept.

A vertical line through (1, 6) would intersect the x-axis at x = 1, which would be the x-intercept. (Draw it yourself...)

The answer, then, is x = 1.
