I'd again like to thank all who helped me but I have some more alike problems but they have to do with age

Four years ago, Katie was twice as old as Anne was then. In 6 years , Anne will be the same age that Katie is now. How old is each now?

What have you tried?

Rule #1 - Name Stuff, then it's WAY easier to talk about it.

I'll get you started:

Four years ago, Katie was twice as old as Anne was then. In 6 years , Anne will be the same age that Katie is now. How old is each now?

What does it want?
"How old is each now?"

Name that.

K = Katie's age Now
A = Anne's age Now

Now what?

problem

Okay letting k and a be theyre present ages, then (k-4) = 2(a-4) and a+6 = k.
Can you solve it from there?

yes that did help me . thankz. I just don't understand how to set the problem up .... but I can solve it very easily.

It will help you to "set up the problem" if you write down clear, concise, and accurate defintions.

This is an OK example, but it needs work:

"letting k and a be theyre present ages"

The information is in there, but it's not all that clear. Spelling errors never help.

This is an excellent example:

K = Katie's age Now
A = Anne's age Now

Can you see the difference? It will help you if you try your hardest to write down these definitions. Others will try to skip over them, write them poorly, or just forget them all together. Don't do what others do. Trust me on this one.
