Dad is 6 years older than Mom. Mom is 83.3% of Dad's age. Six years ago Mom was 80% of Dad's age. What are their ages?

Dad's age now= D → Dad's age six years ago = D - 6

Mom's age now = M → Mom's age six years ago = M - 6

Let D be Dad's age now, let M be Mom's age now.

"Dad is 6 years older than Mom": D= M+ 6
"Mom is 83.3% of Dad's age": M= .833D

Its easy to solve just those two equations for D and M. You don't need the information about "six years ago".
