Some yrs ago, Al was the square root of Tom's age then , but that same number of years from now ,Tom will be 5 times what Al will be. What are their ages ? Thanks. Forming the grid is the problem.

Name variables:

Tom's age now = T

Al's age now = A

Let "N" yrs ago, Al was the square root of Tom's age then

\(\displaystyle (A - N) \ = \ \sqrt{T - N} \) ........................................(1)

"N" number of years from now ,Tom will be 5 times what Al will be

(T + N) = 5 * ( A + N) ...........................................................(2)

T > A > N .............................................................................(3)

I assume that there is one not-mentioned constraint - A, N & T are all positive integers and greater than 0 but less than 160.

Carry on.....
