Is this a permautation or combination??????

The number of six subjects that can be formed from 26 letters ( Sorry, that's the question.. I guess it means how many six letter words can be formed out of a 26 letter word......weird...i know!!!!!!!

Normally, if you want to find the total number of arangemets of a word, it would be a permautation because order matters, and no repeats are allowed. Thus, the total number of words that can be formed would use 8 letters, then 7, then 6.......all the way down to one right??......well not according to my text book!!! Any help would be Great!!!!!!!!

Please tell us what your question means?
What does "The number of six subjecs that can be formed from 26 letters" mean?

Please tell us what is to be done!

Well, from your edit:
If letters cannot be repeated the answer is Perm(26,6)=(26)(25)(24)(23)(22)(21).
With repeated letters: (26)6.
