Hi, I forgot how to do this equation in Algebra, so if anyone can help me that would be great.

6y+7x+8=90

solve for y

6y+7x+8=90

subtract 8 from both sides ...

6y+7x = 82

subtract 7x from both sides ...

6y = 82-7x

divide both sides by 6 ...

y = (82-7x)/6

... where have I seen this question before :?:

Hey, skeeter thanks for your help, but would I divide 82 by 6 as well as -7x by six or would I do 82-7x and than divide by six. Although I don't think you are allowed to subtract from a variable, am I right?

a person taking "advanced" algebra would leave it as is (and they would know why)

btw ... what's the deal with the double posts?
... and why are you posting algebra questions in the geometry forum?
