absolute values: |-2x| = |8|

I will guess (since you don't say) that the instructions for this exercise were something along the lines of "solve the equation".

You have your classroom lectures (or the classnotes from a friend, if you were out sick that week), your textbook, and the links and explanations in other of your absolute-value threads. So what have you tried? How far did you get? Where are you stuck?

Please reply with a clear listing of your work and reasoning so far. Thank you! :D

actually i was able to figure that one out came out with { -4,4} but if i may ask you another one?

solve each equation

2/3|x| = 9

equations and inequalities

Using the exact same tools as you already had (as pointed out in earlier replies), what have you tried? How far did you get?

If you really can't even get started on this, it would appear that either you're trying guess-n-check, instead of following the instructions (explanations, class notes, lesson links, etc) you've been given, or else you've been given the answers to some of your exercises, and are hoping to get the rest of your answers here. I certainly hope that isn't the case. Showing your work (exhibiting your efforts and your contributions) would go a long way, in that regard!

I'm looking forward to your reply! :D
