If you meant 5- la+5bl if a=12 and b = 2, I get a different answer.

evaluate 5 - | a + 5b | if a = 12 and b = 2

5 - | 12 + 5(2) | = 5 - |12 + 22 | = 5 - | 32 | = 5 = 32 = -27

Maybe it's supposed to be 5 - | a - 5b | = 5 - | 12 - 5(2) | = 5 - | 12 - 10 | = 5 - | 2 | = 5 - 2 = 3

Is there a different expression you meant to ask about?
