Hint:
Total Owed = 689 + 362 = ?1
Half of Total Owed = ?2 = ?1 / 2
So M owes ?2 minus the 362 already paid plus the 90 owed previously?

Hint:

So M owes ?2 minus the 362 already paid plus the 90 owed previously?

So 689 +369 =1051 ÷2 =525 525-362= 163 163-90= 73

M owes A £73 is this correct as I have my calculation ( which is the same as yours ridiculed )

And thank you very much for your help

As Denis pointed out, the ?2 is 525.50. So M owes A £253.50 = £525.50 - £362 + £90
