Hi everybody! Just wondering how to find the area of a cylinder and a cone
 
Generally, this sort of thing is proven by an unwrapping technique.

Just the formulas:

Certainly be careful to remember if you are to include the bases (or lids), or just the lateral surface area.
 
Just to help with terminology for the future, these are not polygons (flat shapes with straight sides); they are not even polyhedra (solid shapes with flat sides). They could be called solid figures; but just saying cones and cylinders in the title would have been clearest!
