3 x 3 + 9 x 0 = ??

a few people are puzzled by this problem and i need help to figure out who is right. so here is the problem.

3 x 3 + 9 x 0 =

some say the answer is 0 some got 27 and i think it is 9 because you do the multiplication first then add the 9 so please help.:grin:

You have to follow PEMDAS

(multiplication or division) first then (addition or subtraction).

so it should be:

9 + 9 * 0 → 9 + 0 → 9
 
I learned it as "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally": PEMDAS: first what every is in Parentheses, second Exponents, third Multiplication, then Division, then Addition, then Subtraction. Here that would be 'do the multiplications first': 3x3+ 9x0= 9+ 0= 9.
