So I am extremely lost on these two questions and desperately need to get them done.

1. "When the product of two consecutive even numbes is halved, the result is six times the first number. Find the numbers?"

2. "Jeff hits a golf ball down the fairway. The path of the ball followed was parabolic in shape with relationship h= 2d - (1/30) x d^2 , Where h is the hight of the golf ball above the ground when it is a horizontal distance d from him. Both h and d are in metres. How far from Jeff did the gold ball land?"

Thankyou in advance.

Let us assume that

The first even number under consideration is = 2 * n

What would be the next even number (consecutive even number)?

Now continue....

What would be the height (h) when the ball hits the land (after its flight)?

Thankyou in advance.

For question 1, I would set up a simple equation.

say n is the smaller of the two consecutive numbers, and m is the larger.

we can then write,

(n*m)/2 = 6n

because this is the two consecutive numbers multiplied and halved, which is equal to the lesser number, n, multiplied by 6.

Use this equation to solve for m, and n will be obvious.
